The trial-date problem

Trial is in nine days. The witness hasn’t been served.

Depositions get set, hearings get set, and the paper has to be in someone’s hands with enough lead time for the court to enforce it. If it isn’t, the witness doesn’t show and the judge shrugs.

Priority and Rush exist for exactly this. Upload before noon and Rush puts a deputy on it today.

The witness fee

The witness fee, handled

Utah requires one day’s witness fee and mileage to be tendered with a subpoena that compels attendance. Add Check to Recipient at checkout, enter the amount your subpoena requires, and we deliver our check with the subpoena and note it on the return. Amount plus 5%. The rate is set by Utah Code §78B-1-119.

FAQs

Subpoena questions

Can you serve a subpoena on a business?

Yes. We serve the registered agent, an officer, or the custodian of records as the subpoena directs.

How much notice does the witness need?

That depends on the rule your subpoena is issued under and your court’s local practice. Serve early. Rush and Guaranteed exist for when early isn’t possible.

Can you serve a subpoena in another state for a Utah case?

We serve within Utah. For anywhere else, email us the details and we’ll point you to a member of the National Association of Professional Process Servers we trust in that state.
